Epps Body and Paint | FAQs

Have Questions? Epps has answers!

How many estimates am I required to get?

You only need ONE estimate. Don’t let any insurance company make you drive all over town to get three estimates. And, don’t let any insurance company tell you WHERE to get an estimate. State law clearly states that customers are only required to get one estimate and they can get it at the shop of THEIR choice.

The insurance company says I have to take my car to a shop on THEIR list but I don't know those people. Who decides where I get my vehicle repaired?

You do! You get to decide where your vehicle is repaired. Be sure to pick a high quality collision repair facility with the services that will meet your needs that is convenient for YOU.

I want to take my car to Epps, but the insurance company said they won't warranty any work not done at one of THEIR "preferred" shops. They are paying, so I feel like I have to do what they say. What do I do?

The fact is, the insurance company doesn’t warranty any of the work anyway. Each shop is responsible for the warranty of it’s work. Don’t let that scare tactic keep you from using the shop of YOUR choice. Epps warranties all our work for as long as you own your car.

Why isn't Epps a "preferred shop" with any insurance companies?

Mr. Epps never got on any insurance company’s Direct Repair Program (DRP) because he didn’t want them telling him how to run his business! We have the same philosophy. Our ONLY priority is our client’s needs. If we were to join a DRP, they would promise to send us a lot of business in return for concessions on price which can mean using after-market parts or reconditioned parts and that is not always in the best interest of our customers. We do use after market parts when our customers request it to save their own money, not their insurance company’s money!

Will Epps contact my insurance company regarding my claim?

Our staff at Epps will handle processing the claim and communicating with the insurance claims office for you. All you need is a claim number and we will do the rest. Because we routinely work with many insurance companies, we are able to communicate about your estimate directly with the claims office. This will allow us to begin repairs on your vehicle, with your consent, as soon as we receive approval.

Is an estimate a guaranteed price contract to complete the repair?

An estimate is only a visible damage repair blueprint. Because of the nature of most auto body damage, a complete removal of all damaged parts is required to inspect for any additional broken or damaged parts. Our job is to let your insurance company (or responsible party) know of all the parts of the car that need to be repaired or replaced so we may have to add to the original estimate when we find additional damage (the insurance company should cover this – see below).

What happens if Epps discovers more damage once the repairs begin?

The party responsible for payment is contacted (the insurance company in most cases) and we follow their procedures to process the additional damage. If the damage is significant, the customer is contacted.

Will I be charged more for any extra damage that is discovered after repairs begin?

If an insurance company is paying, you will not have to pay any extra above your deductible. -If you are paying for the repair personally, you will be contacted, and will be able to make the decision as to how you want to handle the repair if additional damage is discovered.

Will I have to handle this claim with the responsible insurance company?

No, we can take care of this for you. All you will need to do is file a claim with your insurance company or get a claim number from the other persons’ insurance company (depending on who is paying). We will process the whole repair with the insurance company so you don’t have to.

When will my car be done?

Many factors influence the length of repairs: the amount of damage, any additional damage discovered, if parts are on backorder or delayed in their delivery, returned parts, (to name a few). In general, we will be unable to tell you the exact time and day when the car will be finished but rather will be able to give you a general time frame. If you need your vehicle by a specific day, let us know and we will work that factor into the schedule.

If My Vehicle's Frame Is Damaged, Will It Be A Total Loss?

Not necessarily. Most newer vehicles are built using unibody construction. Our highly skilled, certified technicians, with the aid of our state-of-the-art equipment, will return your vehicle to original factory specifications. If it is determined that the frame is bent beyond repair, that section can simply be replaced.

Can You Match The Paint Color?

We have made major investments in our paint systems, technology, equipment and paint booths to ensure that we provide, not only an excellent match to your vehicle’s color, but also a beautiful finish that is second to none.

Is There A Warranty On The Repairs to My Vehicle?

YES. We guarantee all our repairs with a LIFETIME WARRANTY.

How Can I Get A Rental Car?

If you need a rental car, we have agreements with rental agencies who can arrange to have a rental waiting for you when you drop off your car. Check with your insurance company to find out if you have rental car coverage and if there are any specific limitations. Then, call us and we’ll help you.

When Can I Wash My Vehicle after it has been fixed?

For the first 30 days you can wash your vehicle with cool water, mild soap and a soft cloth or sponge. Be sure to wash it in the shade. DO NOT USE A COMMERCIAL CAR WASH! Also, avoid parking under trees. The sap and bird droppings can spot the new finish. DO NOT WAX FOR 30 Days. The paint needs to cure and harden before you wax.
